Maunawili Falls Hike

Just one of my goals for the year....get outdoors more! We do live in "paradise", so why not take advantage of it???

So...here's our first hike of the year...

-just the beginning-

-about half way to the falls-

My oldest son & I....with the Ko'olau Mountains in the background.

-he was so proud of this "walking stick" he found-

-slippery rocks!-

-Maunawili Falls-

Not a very good shot of the falls, I know...but it's the best i could do with all the tourists around.
& they were crazy tourists too!! As you can see the falls ain't flowing so much, which means that the pool isn't so deep. Duh! & these crazy tourists were jumping in from like 20 ft. up! Not to mention they didn't have the proper technique! Ha!

-on our way back out-

& let me just say...these are not "normal" sized stairs. At least not for me! Ha! I literally had to bring my knee all the way up to my chest! Needless to say...I was huffin' & puffin'!

-just me-

It was a great hike! It only took us about 2 hours round trip and was fairly easy, except...for those darn stairs!! But hopefully we can keep it up! Our plan is to hike every saturday. This time was just a couple of us girlfriends and my son. Next time maybe the husbands will tag along! We'll see! They can be so lazy! Lol!

Finally!

It took me a while, but I've finally finished my sister's christmas present. Ha! It was just one of those projects that I got stuck on and had to put it away for a while. And unfortunately it never made it's way across the ocean and under her christmas tree. But....better late than never, right!? So here it is....

It started out as a drabby ol' picture frame that I picked up at my local goodwill shop for like a buck or two. A little bit of rub-n-buff, pretty paper, lace, flowers, bling.....and poof! It's gorgeous! At least I think so...

I used my new favorite product on top of the glass....rub-ons!

Some Prima lace, flowers, and bling. Along with my own handrolled mulberry flowers.

And the final piece that pulled it all together for me...this gorgeous flower of a jewel! It was part of a necklace that I literally took my pliers to and took apart. Luuuuuuuv it!

Lesson for the day......

Check your local thrift store for great pieces to alter. Not only are they a deal, but you can find some pretty awesome things there.

And don't forget about your old forgotten jewelry that you no longer wear....Repurpose it!

31 Days, 31 Videos, 31 Goals Challenge

well, here i am. it's january 31, 2011, the last day of  the 31 days, 31 videos, 31 goals challenge. i must say...it's been a loooong month! ha! but it's been great! it was definitely a challenge to do a video a day. and i will admit that there were times when i was playing catch up, but i pushed thru and i made it to the finish line! i'm super proud of myself! i've been "on" youtube for a while now. always a stalker, lurker, whatever you wanna call it. never left a comment, never even clicked the "like" button, and definitely never posted a video! eek! that scared the crap outta me! but thanks to the challenge i conquered my fears! and it feels great! i'm totally looking forward to whatever the rest of the year brings my way. i plan to keep up with my youtube channel and my blog (now that i have one!). although....it definitely won't be everyday. i do have three kids and a husband that need my attention. i've already gotten numerous complaints from my 4 year old son that i'm on the computer toooooo much! so, maybe once a week at the very least. who knows, we'll see. but, anyways....i've had a blast! and i just wanna say a big MAHALO!! (that's THANK YOU! in hawaiian) to all those who took the time to watch my videos! i really appreciate it! :)
